Diane James, joined Association Strategies after having
successfully guided numerous organizations through
pivotal transitions as an experienced association
executive. With a foundation in financial management and
human resources in both corporate and nonprofit
organizations, Diane has assisted organizations in
approaching their challenges from a strategic and
business perspective while capitalizing on their
strengths as mission-driven and volunteer-led.
Diane has brought creative approaches to association
leadership challenges in professional organizations and
nonprofits, including the American Society of
Association Executives (ASAE), the Georgia SAE, and
professional organizations focused healthcare,
communications, diversity and youth development. While
serving as an executive director, she was frequently
tapped by volunteer boards to assist as a consultant on
executive transitions, staffing, management and
strategic planning. She served as the CEO of the Women’s
Transportation Seminar and its Foundation and as the
executive director of Jacobs Institute of Women’s Health
and Women in Cable Telecommunications.
Having achieved the Certified Association Executive
(CAE) designation in 1997, Diane was named a Fellow of
the American Society of Association Executives in 2007.
She speaks and writes frequently on topics of diversity,
workforce development, leadership, governance, finance,
administration, technology and human resources. She has
been a featured presenter on specific industry issues in
transportation, cable telecommunications and healthcare.
She conducts workshops and planning sessions for
associations and serves on the board of a Washington
DC-based youth development organization. Diane holds a
bachelor’s degree in business administration and human
resource management from Oglethorpe University in
Atlanta.
