Michael Strand has been
involved in a broad variety of services from
compensation and benefits plan analysis, employee
relations counseling, recruitment and employment
processes, outplacement, employee communications
including employee handbooks and related policies as
well as interim leadership positions. In the area
of compensation, his work has focused on:
Organized, conducted
and published a dozen salary and benefits surveys
(State, Regional and National) for professional and
trade associations.
Conducted numerous
staff pay, staff benefits, executive compensation
and executive benefit market studies for a variety
of organizations.
Formulated and
implemented “golden handcuff” compensation plans and
other employee retention initiatives.
Testified to the Los
Angeles County Board of Supervisors on the pay of
45,000 County employees compared to the pay provided
by other California municipalities. Participated in
a press conference on the same topic.
Conducts FLSA status
studies.
Mike has served as a Human
Resources Executive since 1977. He was the HR Director
of 4 organizations ranging in size from 600 employees to
4,000 employees in union and non-union settings. Mike
has a Bachelors degree in Business from the University
of Toledo and a Masters Degree (school of Government and
Business Administration) from The George Washington
University in 1976. Mike has been licensed as a health,
life and disability insurance broker since 1995 (current
Resident license in Maryland; Non-Resident licenses in
Virginia and the District of Columbia). He actively
participates in numerous professional organizations and
has served on a number of non-profit Boards in
leadership positions.
